As we all know, Self Esteem is a huge problem with children in America today. However, we aren't unarmed as parents in combatting these problems and resolving them before they get out of hand. Below we have listed 7 Very Easy steps to Increasing your Child's Self Esteem! So I invite you to take a moment and see how you can help protect the future of your children!
Help them find their passion. Find something your child shows interest in, no matter how strange it seems, try to support it. Your child will learn that his interests are important.
Second
Let them fail. There is a lot to learn from failure. As long as the failure will not cause loss of life or be unsafe, let your child experience failure. This will teach them that some things are worthwhile.
Third
Make them earn things. Ownership of something is never taken as seriously as when we had to work to get it. This applies just as much for children as it does for adults. This will teach them the value of self-reliance and the importance of goal-setting to get what they want.
Fourth
Set a good example by walking tall and not complain. Nothing conveys a sense of pride, confidence, and leadership like good posture and an upright stance. You can't tell your child to not do something they see you doing all the time. Walking tall and seeking solutions are hallmarks of leaders and strong "individuals." these things also signal to a would-be bully or other attackers that your child just might be able to protect themselves.
Fifth
Telling your child that they’re strong and confident is another way to increase your child’s confidence. This way, your child will learn to talk to themselves this way. Often, the only things children here are corrections and comments when they've done something wrong. Don't praise your child when they've excelled - do it when they are just being them.
Sixth
Make your child finish what they start. By accomplishing something, they will feel a sense of pride.
Seventh
Get them involved in the martial arts. The martial arts offers more than physical activity. It offers a means of learning self-discipline, focus, respect, and many other of the important life skills needed for success.
